Mid-summer is here – running out of ideas for fun, family-friendly activities to keep everyone entertained and cool? South Miami has a few fantastic options.
City of South Miami Summer Camp
When: Now through August 9th, 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday
Where: Gibson-Bethel Community Center, 5800 SW 66th Street
The City of South Miami Summer Camp is a daily camp for Kindergarteners through 6th graders, which features fun summer activities such as sports, pool days, arts & crafts, field trips and lots more to keep the little ones entertained. Residents of South Miami enjoy a reduced fee of $50 per week. Non-residents can also join the camp for $125 per week. Lunch is included for all campers. Field trips are a separate fee. Register here!
Aquatic Activities at the Murray Park Aquatic Center
When: Now through Mid-September
Where: 6701 SW 58th Place
Adults and kids can enjoy a variety of summer activities at the Murray Park Aquatic Center. The center features a splash pad and a zero-depth entry outdoor pool.
Water Aerobics
Now through October, the center will feature water aerobics classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The pool is heated to 85 degrees in the cooler months, as is recommended by Aquatic Exercise Association. Classes are 45 minutes and begin at 11:15am. Fees are $35 per month, or $7 for a drop-in class.
Swim Lessons with iSwim Academy and Make a Splash
The USA Swimming Foundation is partnering with the center’s local iSwim Academy to offer life-saving swim lessons to children. In addition to basic swim skills, this program also enhances water safety knowledge and skills for the entire family. Morning and afternoon sessions are offered through September. Public Open Swim
Public open swim is available from 12pm to 4pm on designated days/times through September. You can find the schedule here.
