If we could combine New York and Miami into a single destination, it would look a lot like Brickell. The core of Downtown Miami, Brickell boasts landmark high-rises, brand new luxury icons, a bustling urban center, and trend-setting nightlife and dining. Long a coveted address, it’s the place to live for a chic Miami urban lifestyle.
Let’s explore this exciting neighborhood.
Where Can I Live on Brickell?
Gleaming ultra-luxury condos make up the vast majority of residential options on Brickell. When Brickell City Centre opened in 2016, it gave way to an explosion of new residential construction. High-end condominiums and lavish hotels sprang up almost immediately, transforming the area from a largely financial district with a limited amount of housing, into one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Miami with an extraordinary housing selection.
You can’t really go wrong with any of the gorgeous condo residences on Brickell, yet we do have a few favorites.
Jade Residences at Brickell Bay brings everything you could want in a luxury condominium – a coveted location, gorgeous bay views, top-notch amenities, and stunningly appointed living spaces. Residents appreciate being just minutes from the business district, the airport, and South Beach, while also having direct access to a peaceful walking path with unobstructed views of Biscayne Bay. Amenities include a private Residence Club, a full-service spa and fitness center, business center, an infinity waterfront pool, plus 24-hour security, concierge, and valet. The 340 residences range from 895 to 6,487 square feet with up to 5 bedrooms and glamorous views of the bay, Fisher Island, and South Beach. Additional noteworthy details include the 9-foot ceilings, glass-railing balconies, and private foyers.
La Santa Maria is certainly the most fascinating residential option on Brickell, because it has a special feature that simply can’t be replicated – its provenance. Though today it features truly elegant and modern homes and amenities, the property itself can be traced back to a grant issued by the King of Spain in 1790. A 6,000-square-foot restored mansion serves as a residents-only clubhouse, paying homage to the rich history of this beautiful residence.
This 51-story building is unmistakable on the Miami skyline. Each condo boasts floor-to-ceiling windows in bedrooms and living spaces, along with oversized balconies to soak in all those sun-soaked panoramic views. Exquisite wood floors, the finest granite and marble countertops, and state-of-the-art appliances and fixtures are appointed in kitchens and bathrooms. Two to five bedrooms are offered in units ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 square feet. The private clubhouse, a pool, waterfront bistro, marina, gazebo, ocean view fitness center, tennis & racquetball courts, a landscaped garden with waterfalls, a staffed gated entrance, and more surround residents with opulence and exclusivity.
A destination unto itself, Brickell Key is a man-made island just off the mainland, accessible by Brickell Avenue. Luxury, privacy, and exclusivity are the draw here, as the island boasts its own restaurants, marketplaces, beauty salons, and parks. Similar to Brickell, residents enjoy luxury condominium towers featuring ample waterfront terraces and resort-style amenities such as pools, fitness centers, tennis courts, indoor basketball courts, and spas.
In particular, we love Asia Brickell Key, a renowned boutique luxury residential tower swathed in green glass and boasting a prime setting. Its 33 floors harbor 123 units with 12-foot ceilings and unobstructed ocean and city views, thanks to the Asia’s waterfront location on the northern side of the island. The many resort style amenities include 24-hr security and concierge, valet parking, a fitness center, and multiple pools and whirlpools, just to name a few. Cutting edge in both decor and amenities, each Asia residence boasts smart technology with wireless high-speed internet and touch-screen panels, European cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and ample walk-in closets. Units range from 1,660 to 3,800 square feet and offer 1 to 4 bedrooms.
Where Will My Children Go to School?
Families living on Brickell can take advantage of some of the best private schools in the country. Key Point Christian Academy is a Pre-K to middle school academy with a heavy focus on STEM studies, leadership skills, and community responsibility. With only 250 students and a 10:1 student-teacher ratio, each child’s natural talents and desire to learn are cultivated with individualized attention.
Miami Senior High School offers a challenging, well-rounded academic program while encouraging students to be problem-solvers, active in their communities, and life-long learners. It was ranked among the Best Public High Schools in Florida by Niche.com and offers students Magnet programs in teaching, legal studies, and vocational pursuits. Students can also take advantage of the Dual Enrollment program, which allows them to earn college credits while still in high school.
Where Will I Go for Dining & Entertainment around Brickell?
Sprawling cross 9 acres, Brickell City Centre debuted in 2016 and transformed the community. The billion-dollar development is a mini-neighborhood unto itself, complete with residential space, 500,000 square feet of open-air retail space, and 2 international food courts, among other dining options. The complex is comprised of 4 levels interconnected across 3 city blocks. The flagship attraction here is the 107,000-square foot Saks Fifth Avenue and luxury VIP Cinema Experience from CMX.
For a truly special dining experience, locals and visitors love Toro Toro, a Pan-Latin restaurant blending rodizio with tapas, and offering an extensive wine and custom cocktails menu. The vibrant music and sleek furnishings add to the memorable experience here.
Celebrity sightings, live performances by the hottest artists in entertainment, premium bottle service, and delectable menus earn E11even its title as the world’s only 24/7 Ultraclub. Special events, concerts, and appearances are scheduled for every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and guests can arrange private events and parties with the club’s event planner.
Spa lovers living on Brickell won’t find a better facility than the Iconbrickell Spa at the W Hotel. Located on the 14th floor of Tower 1, guests can bask in the stunning Biscayne Bay views while relaxing in the rooftop plunge pool, unwinding in the Jacuzzi, and receiving world-class massages. The 28,000-square foot facility provides a phenomenal array of treatments and services to pamper and rejuvenate guests.
Mary Brickell Village is home to some of the neighborhood’s best shopping. Eclectic boutiques and specialty retailers fill this open-air mall. Locals are glad for the absence of big-box retailers here, supporting local inventive businesses that contribute to Brickell’s vibe. Hungry shoppers can indulge in tasty bites at several bars and eateries throughout the village.
Visitors and residents alike relish in treating themselves to the incomparable offerings of one of the finest luxury hotels on the planet. The world-famous Mandarin Oriental Hotel Miami calls Brickell Key home, with a 20,000-square-foot pristine private beach furnished with cabanas, hammocks, and comfortable lounge furniture, a 3-story spa offering holistic therapies and treatments, and sumptuous waterfront dining experiences including La Mar by Gaston Acurio.
How About Outdoor Fun?
Downtown doesn’t mean lack of outdoor activities – this is Miami, after all!
Brickell Rooftop Soccer is exactly what it sounds like: a professionally lighted, fully netted turf court offering kids’ soccer, men’s and women’s leagues, and pickup games… all on a rooftop! You can host birthday parties, organize games, and reserve court times.
For a cool respite after a long day of work, cross over to Simpson Park, just a block off Brickell on South Miami Avenue. This dense, old growth patch of sub-tropical jungle that once covered South Florida has survived intact after more than a century of development. Inquisitive visitors can learn about the 160+ species of Simpson’s trees and plants, while those who just want to relax can recline on a park bench or in the grass beneath the shady canopy of Jamaican dogwood trees.
Brickell Park is located waterfront right on Brickell Avenue next to the Icon tower, and if you like a relaxing spot with an interesting human history, this is the place for you. The one-of-a-kind retreat is home to a mausoleum archeological zone that’s preserved by the Historic Preservation Society of Miami. In fact, it’s the site of the Brickell Family mausoleum. It’s also home to a pre-Columbian archaeological site.
There’s more where that came from… Miami Circle Park is another archaeological site, home to the remains of a perfectly circular pre-historic settlement delineated by a series of basins cut into the limestone bedrock. Historians believe that this structure, which predates other regional settlements, was built by the Tequesta Indians and could possibly have been their capital.
The site is believed to be between 1700 and 2000 years old. Located on the waterfront near the Icon Brickell, this park has a peaceful vibe and fantastic views.
Pretty cool, right?
As we mentioned earlier, Brickell Key residents also have their own park. They can stroll to the southern tip of their island to relax in the soothing green space of Brickell Key Park, which of course has amazing views from its walking path.
When the water’s siren song calls, Brickellites flock to the Miamarina, 1 mile north of Brickell on Biscayne Blvd. Here they find fishing and sailing charters, special event tours and cruises, and yacht rentals. The marina is situated within Bayside Marketplace, next to the FTX Arena. It accommodates 130 vessels, including yachts up to 150 feet.
Where Will I Get Medical Care for Healthy Living on Brickell?
The Brickell community hosts several specialty facilities, including a sleep apnea center, the Miami Wellness & Aesthetics Center, and the ICON Accident Injury Clinic, which provides chiropractic, orthopedic, and surgical intervention for injury recovery and rehabilitation.
Mercy Hospital in nearby Coconut Grove is another option for Brickell residents. This 488-bed facility has received several special accreditations, including a certification as a Primary Stroke Center from the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). This program has met stringent requirements demonstrating that the program follows national standards and guidelines that significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.
Residents in need of comprehensive hospital care commonly opt for Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables. Part of the consistently awarded Baptist Health Network, this facility earns an “A“ from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, which evaluates hospitals on a national scale for their policies and programs dedicated to protecting patients.
This facility is also home to the Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute, a 49,000-square-foot facility providing cutting-edge treatment and rehabilitation for orthopedic- and sports-related injuries.
